OLBRAMOVICE HAS BEEN LISTED AMONG THE MUNICIPALITIES OF THE OLOMOUC EPISCOPATE SINCE 1063. IN 1321 THE VILLAGE WAS OWNED BY HENRY OF LIPÁ. OLBRAMOVICE STATUS WAS PROMOTED TO A TOWNSHIP IN 1436 WHICH PERMITTED TWO ANNUAL MARKETS.  A THIRD MARKET WAS GRANTED UNDER MAXMILIAN II IN 1576. ANOTHER IMPORTANT RIGHT GRANTED TO THE TOWNSHIP IN 1440 WAS THE HANGING RIGHT. CAPITAL PUNISHMENT WAS ONLY ABOLISHED HERE IN 1729 BY EMPEROR CHARLES VI WHEN THE CAPITAL OFFENCES COURT WAS TRANSFERRED TO MORAVSKÝ KRUMLOV.

Under the Lords of Mírov in the second third of 16th century a renaissance town hall was built in the village. In the same period the parish church of St. James the Greater was rebuilt in the late Gothic style.

Olbramovice’s wine tradition is long, documented by many written records stored in the Znojmo Archives, such as the granting of an exemption from the wine tax in 1827 by Wilhelm of Pernštejn or the right to have domestic wines on tap granted in 1596 by Jiří Hodický of Hodice.

LESKOUN, NA VYHLÍDCE, OLBRAMOVICKÁ HORA AND U SV. MICHALA VINEYARDS

The Leskoun Vineyard Estate is one of the most interesting in the surroundings of Olbramovice. The view of the vineyard is framed by the sharp edges of the granite hill of the same name.  Leskoun used to have three peaks situated at 388 metres above sea level. In the Bronze and the Iron Ages there was a fortified settlement on the top. In the recent half-century, however, most of the hill was excavated and used as a building material for the nearby giant structures of the Dalešice Dam and Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant.
